Product Information
Our marker pens are high quality aluminium so they last longer. Our ink is Xylene free to protect your health - we even have EEC health and safety approval. Inks come in bright colours - they are highly visible, easy to erase and give our pens a 24 hour ‘cap-off’ life span.
The average teacher can throw away 1 - 2 whiteboard markers each week. That can add up to more than 40-80 disposable markers per teacher per year. We estimate 40,000,000 marker pens are thrown away each year in Australia alone. Using a refillable marker helps the environment by reducing waste, and saves you money in the process.
Auspen Reversible Nibs - All marker pens are available with a Bullet Nib (left hand diagram) for a bolder line, or a Chisel Nib (right hand diagram) for a finer line. All nibs are reversible, so they last twice as long.
Manufacturing Information
- Our pens are manufactured with high quality aluminium. This costs more up front, but the pens last longer, and uses less resources over the longer term than some of the alternatives
- Our carry cases are made from high quality materials so that they are durable - they last a long time. Even so, we’ve made them with 100% recyclable molded plastic.
Ink information
- Xylene free (we have more information on Xylene if you need to know why that matters)
- Orange and Green - darker shades for clear visibility
- Purple - our ever so popular new colour , looks great
- 24 hour cap-off life span and does not dry out
Nibs
Our nibs are reinforced to prevent fraying. Nibs are reversible (because they are double sided) - this provides for a longer lifespan, and retains a heavy writing line longer.
Refilling
Refill markers before they dry out completely to maximise life:
- Unscrew the neck of the barrel. You can do this by hand without any ink touching you, or if you prefer you can use the AusPen tool (’spanner’) supplied with every AusPen carrycase.
- Auspen Markers are individually wax sealed to ensure they are airlocked. This may result in initial tightness of the neck. Subsequent openings are easier.
- Remove only the head and nib of pen, insert 25 to 30 drops of AusPen ink into the felt inside the barrel.
- Replace neck of the barrel firmly.
Avoid contact with fabrics. Always take care when handling ink, the use of a tissue or rag is recommended.
